A House is Not a Home

I’ve been paying rent since 1989, and living in rented accommodation since my Mum got our first council flat in 1977 (before that, seven of us lived in my Nan’s 3 bedroom house!). I’ve experienced the same stuff most renters have experienced – mice, slugs, mould, burglary, noise pollution, abusive neighbours, ace landlords and dodgy landlords (including the kind that let themselves in unannounced in the hopes they’ll catch you in your underwear). Every now and then a story comes to mind, most likely filed under ‘rants’.
